Council members host meeting on zoning laws

Fourth District Binghamton City Councilman Martin J. Gerchman and Second District Councilman Robert Weslar hosted a meeting on Thu, Nov. 10 concerning changes to the zoning district boundary.

When Joseph S. Sanfilippo resigned his position to become fourth District County Legislator Gerchman was appointed to the City Council in January to become a Council Representative for the fourth district, including part of the West Side west of Laurel Ave.

Music Department to host Nov. 17 day of jazz

The Binghamton University Department of Music and the Harpur Jazz Project are co-sponsoring a day of jazz on Nov. 17. The day will begin with a free concert in the Osterhaut Concert Theater at 1:20 p.m. and a free jazz concert at 2:30 p.m. Trumpeter Eddie Allen will perform with the Harpur Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m. The cost of the concert is $9 for the general public, $7 for staff, faculty and seniors, and free for students. Tickets are available at the Anderson Center Box Office.

BU chapter of Americans for Informed Democracy to host town hall meeting on U.S.-U.N. relations.

Irving J. Stolberg, a democracy adviser who is currently the president of the Connecticut division of the United Nations Association, will be leading a town hall meeting to discuss proposed reforms in the United Nations policies on human rights, terrorism and a number of other issues. Citizens and students will have an opportunity to share their views at the end of the meeting. The discussion will take place in Lecture Hall 9 on Mon. Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
