In tomorrow’s third quarterfinal game, second-seeded Albany will face off against No. 7 New Hampshire.
The Great Danes, who beat UNH twice this year and by seven points each time, are led by seniors Jamar Wilson and Jason Siggers. Wilson is leading the league in scoring, averaging 18.6 ppg while Siggers is eighth averaging 14.2 ppg.
While Albany is one of the top-scoring teams in the conference averaging 69 ppg, New Hampshire is one of the top defensive teams, holding opponents to 65 ppg. But that Great Dane offense could be too much for the Wildcats as Albany is first in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 46 percent while UNH is towards the bottom shooting 41 percent.
UNH is also led by a pair of seniors, Blagoj Janev and Jermaine Anderson. Janev is averaging 13.6 ppg while Anderson is averaging 14.5 and is one of the top free-throw and 3-point shooters in the conference.
Both teams are coming off double-digit wins in their final regular season games as New Hampshire will look to avenge their two losses as well as their 13-point semifinal loss last year to the Great Danes, who will be looking to defend their America East title.
Prediction ‘ Close for most of the game, Jamar Wilson and Albany are just too much for New Hampshire as the Great Danes pull away late, winning 70-61.
