The Binghamton men’s tennis team entered the weekend on a four-game losing streak, with three of the losses coming to Ivy League schools.

The weekend, however, provided a break from the top Division I competition as the Bearcats (2-5) took on Division II Concordia on Friday and Marist on Saturday. Binghamton defeated Concordia 5-4, but came up short against Marist, losing 4-3.

Binghamton started off its fourth consecutive weekend on the road with a victory over Concordia, which is nationally ranked in Division II at No. 32. The Bearcats lost the doubles point to fall behind, but came back winning four of the six singles matches.

Unfortunately Binghamton could not use the momentum of the win as it fell the following day at Marist, 4-3. The Bearcats lost the doubles points and then three of the six singles matches as well.

Juniors Faisal Mohamed and Jon Bonnet were the only Bearcats to win both their singles matches over the weekend, doing so at first singles and at fourth singles, respectively. Mohamed improves to 15-7 overall on the season and has now won three dual matches in a row.

Binghamton’s next match will be at Cornell today at 5:30 p.m. The Bearcats lost their previous meet at Cornell last year, 7-0.
