#14 Ian Milne
Freshman, 6’9”, Power Forward
Ian Milne might be listed as a freshman in the Media Guide, but this backup power forward knows his way around campus. Milne red-shirted last season and looks forward to finally seeing action on the Events Center floor after averaging a double-double in high school. His role might change game-by-game though, as he is capable of playing inside or out on the perimeter.
#2 Schafer Jackson
Senior, 6’2”, Shooting Guard
There are two things you can count on when it comes to Schafer Jackson: the fans will chant his name throughout the entire game and the senior guard won’t hesitate to launch away from downtown. Jackson will provide the offensive spark off the bench once again this season, but may see limited minutes if he becomes a defensive liability.
#33 Giovanni Olomo
Sophomore, 6’8”, Center
If he retired tomorrow, Giovanni Olomo wouldn’t be inducted into the BU Hall of Fame. But after tallying just four minutes a game in his freshman campaign, and missing the entire 2004-05 season (red-shirted), Olomo will finally get a chance to make a name for himself. Olomo might not become a dominant force down low, but should help the team on the glass and at the defensive end.
#34 Duane James
Junior, 6’6”, Power Forward
For someone who didn’t play high school ball, Duane James has certainly come a long way. James transferred from Miami Dade after playing two seasons for the junior college, where he averaged 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as a sophomore. The athletic forward lacks experience at the Division I level, but should still be able to help the Bearcats on the boards.
#12 Drew Davison
Sophomore, 6’2”, Point Guard
One of the Bearcats’ greatest concerns last season was beating the full-court press. To help bring the ball up the court and take pressure off of Mike Gordon, Al Walker recruited junior college transfer Drew Davison. Along with handling the ball, the sophomore point guard hopes to make opponents pay for doubling in the post with his nice outside shooting touch.
#21 Dwayne Jackson
Freshman, 6’3”, Guard
After averaging 20.6 points and 9.0 rebounds last season, freshman Dwayne Jackson hopes to make a smooth transition to the collegiate level. Jackson is a big guard who could make an immediate impact at the defensive end, especially now that Steve Proctor is injured.
#23 Steve Proctor
Junior, 6’4”, Swingman
Coming from Pensacola Junior College, Steve Proctor was supposed to provide the Bearcats with a physical presence in the back court. Unfortunately, he broke his wrist in BU’s second exhibition game and will be out until January.
#50 Jaan Montgomery
Freshman, 6’11”, Center
This 6-11 center from Ontario is going to have to wait until next year to see some action. Jaan Montgomery was excited about playing with a guard-oriented team, but will most likely red-shirt this season, as he is the Bearcats’ sixth option in the post.
Coaching Staff
And that brings us to the Man, the Myth, the Legend. Now in his sixth season at the helm, this looks likes Al Walker’s best chance to take the Bearcats dancing in March. But while Walker has always preached team defense and the importance of rebounding, he might have to alter his coaching philosophy a bit with this run-and-gun squad. If Walker takes a sick day, look for associate head coach Lawrence Brenneman, and assistants Marlon Sears and Ali Ton to take over.
