The volleyball team has come a long way since the beginning of the season. Here is a timeline of some important dates that led to the Bearcats’ first America East Championship.

Aug. 15 Binghamton was predicted to finish sixth in the preseason poll.

Aug. 27-Sept. 3 The Bearcats start the season with an impressive 4-0 record, including wins over Siena and St. Johns.

Sept. 6-Sept. 10 The Bearcats dropped their next five matches, including a 0-4 showing at the William & Mary Invitational.

Sept. 28 Cornell swept BU 3-0, as the Bearcats ended non-conference play with an 8-9 record.

Oct. 9 After winning their first three AE matches, the Bearcats shocked Albany with a 3-1 win over the defending champs.

Oct. 14 In front of 680 fans at the West Gym, the Bearcats took over sole possession of first place in the conference with a 3-2 win against Maine.

Oct. 23 Albany got revenge with a convincing sweep at University Gymnasium, snapping the Bearcats’ six-game win streak.

Nov. 6 Maine handed the Bearcats another road loss, winning the rematch 3-1 at Memorial Gymnasium.

Nov. 13 The Bearcats finished AE play with a 10-2 record, and earned the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament.

Nov. 18 The Bearcats defeated Maine 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs while Stony Brook upset Albany in the other matchup.

Nov. 19 The Bearcats won the conference championship with a 3-1 win over the Seawolves in the finals, and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Dec. 2 The Bearcats will head to Penn State to face the second-seeded Nittany Lions in the opening round of the tournament at 7:30 p.m.
