The Binghamton University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to open the season this weekend at the Western New York Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.
The men’s and women’s teams have been picked to finish in third and fourth respectively in the America East Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Both the men’s and women’s squads from University of Maryland, Baltimore County have been chosen to finish in first place. The Retrievers took home the AE title last season on both sides.
The women’s swimming and diving team will look to build on last year’s season, when the team finished among the top five at the conference meet for the first time since 2004 and recorded its best scoring performance since 2003.
On the men’s side, the Bearcats are coming off a third-place finish at the conference championships.
Senior Nolan Slesnick will look to defend his 400 IM title and notch all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive year.
The Bearcats are scheduled to kick off the season at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the University at Buffalo.
