Last week, I became a believer.

I am now a proud member of a national force which has moved mountains and awakened a new sense of hope and concord within our nation. I have decided to take part in a revolution which has brought 330,000 (as of last night) college students together toward unwavering unity. One single purpose has moved myself and otherwise-strangers, such as Geoff Abel (West Point ’09), Travis Frazier (Guilford ’07) and Sajid Anwar (Duke ’05), toward a common goal. I have found friends — brothers — of whom I feel that I can now depend on for life.

Ladies and gentleman, I speak not of political reforms, nor of sports teams or religious followings. No, I speak of sex … more specifically, threesomes.

Along with last week’s controversial addition of the ‘News Feed’ to the √É.√ºber-popular social network Facebook, there stood another issue of perhaps even greater concern. Amidst the thousands of Facebook groups created last week, one small jewel stood out from the rest. It was a desperate cry for help — a favor asked of all the students of our nation.

On Sept. 5, 2006, Brody Ruckus started the Facebook group, “If this group reaches 100,000 my girlfriend will have a threesome.” Little did this student from Atlanta realize, what he organized would soon become the single most driving force of brotherhood since beef jerky.

Since the formation of the group midday last Tuesday, Ruckus’ quest for triangular satisfaction has become an online deluge of testosterone and “hell yeahs.” Sure, there were the naysayers (e.g. most females), but what Ruckus originally hoped to achieve by the end of the fall semester has quickly manifested itself into a sexual slam-dunk for males everywhere. Last week brought us the sale of T-shirts, thongs and mousepads with such expressions as “I Helped Brody Ruckus Reach 100,000,” and, “Brody Ruckus, We Salute You.”

Whether you agree with Ruckus’ bedroom exploits or not, the man deserves our credit, if for nothing else than his fierce determination and willpower. The day that Brody Ruckus has his threesome will be the consummation of 100,000 college students — from all cities, races and creeds — united together to help one man make his dreams become a reality.
