This weekend, the Hinman Production Company is performing its rendition of ‘Harvey,’ a tale of Elwood P. Dowd, played by Kevin Gleeson, an undeclared freshman.
Written by Mary Chase, the plot follows hilarious difficulties that ensue when Dowd’s family attempts to put him in a sanitarium because he claims his best friend is a 6-foot anthropomorphic rabbit, which only he is able to see. Any Donnie Darko fans out there?
HPC is a student-run theater company that produces a straight play and a musical each semester. For the past two months, the diverse and talented cast has been volunteering their time and efforts to put together a wonderful show, according to directors Alex Kornberg and Anna Alcott.
‘Students should come see ‘Harvey’ because Elwood’s character possesses an outlook on life that many young people these days have lost,’ Alcott said. ‘College students are always running around, worried about one thing or another, and ‘Harvey’ offers a refreshingly lighthearted escape from daily stresses.’
The play will be presented in the Hinman Commons at 8 p.m. tonight and at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The run time is about two hours with a 10-minute intermission. Admission is $3 at the door.
