People go downtown for numerous reasons: the beer, the booze, the potential hookups, and the always-entertaining cab rides. You know why I go downtown? Because every weekend at The Rat, I can hear the greatest club music and latest remixes around. Who can forget the first time they heard the Britney Spears vs. Usher Toxic Remix? When I’m old and gray, I’ll rank that moment higher than the birth of my first child and my wedding day. I love Usher.

But this isn’t about Usher. This is about Ministry of Sound’s “The Annual 2006.” This two-disc set features some pretty ill-nasty dance mixes. Sometimes I like to put it on in my apartment when I’m all alone and run headfirst into the walls until I black out. It’s really that damned good. House and techno are vastly underappreciated around here, and while I don’t pretend to know that much about it, I do know it kicks all sorts of ass.

Notable tracks include a Kelly Clarkson remix, Cascada’s “Everytime We Touch,” and that song “I Like The Way” by Bodyrockers from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. Watching Adriana Lima strut down the runway with this shit pumping is very satisfying, and listening to it now always fills my head with visions of boobies. Get this album any way you can.
