1. Tell us a bit about yourself — any clubs, hobbies or major plans for the future?
“Since becoming a part of the campus community, I have been actively involved in several organizations. I am the current contracts assistant to the vice president for finance [(VPF)] of the Student Association [(SA)] where I pride myself on the ability to assist student groups daily. I am also the current vice president of finance for the [PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)] Scholars Program, a committee member for the Management Consulting Group and the director of the Binghamton Enactus Business Assistance Group.”
My number one passion is to give back to my community by helping individuals. I am incredibly passionate about the consulting industry and the ability to help businesses achieve their goals. As the director of the Business Assistance Group, my team and I actively work to assist several local small businesses in recovering from the pandemic. My spirit of assisting people has directly led to my internship for the summer of 2023 in the New York Strategy and Management Consulting practice of the middle-market servicing firm, RSM. This role will allow me to help medium-sized businesses achieve their goals and provide high-quality services to everyday people!”
2. What is your platform?
“At its core, my platform is centered around my passion for helping people. I have constructed a framework of four pillars that will provide a strong foundation on which to build a support system for all student groups.
The first pillar of my platform is transparency. I am committed to constructing a VPF office that is fully open about our ongoing improvements. As I actively work to achieve my goals outlined in other pillars, communication will be plentiful! After all, the goal of the [SA] is to serve all students at Binghamton [University]. I also believe that the adviser program must be reconstructed to provide more one-on-one care to student organizations with a more formal setting to be introduced to a group’s respective adviser.
The second pillar, clarity, consists of my plan to actively work to clarify complex financial policies by developing a Financial Policies and Procedures review committee. This committee will be composed of community government officials, [SA] Congress representatives, VPF staff members and chartered organization members. In addition, the VPF office under my leadership will institute online tutorials on how to fill out the most common financial documents. This will be supplemented by easily accessible online how-to sheets and workshops that cover the most complex topics including contracts, prior approvals and tax-exempt forms.
The next pillar is efficiency. I will provide consistent updates regarding current document turnaround times to allow student groups to plan efficiently. This will be done through both online and email channels. I will continue my work in digitizing specific processes such as the contract process to accept e-signature!
Last, but certainly not least, stands advocacy. The VPF office under my leadership will be a welcoming and kind place. One where we are open to suggestions and always welcome you with a warm smile. Together, we will advocate for clarity and fairness for all organizations while maintaining legal compliance. In addition, official VPF social media accounts will open up lines of communication to all!”
4. Why should students vote for you?
“Students should cast a vote for me because I offer the student body a unique perspective and vast experience to help all students and groups. My experience covers all three levels of financial life here at [BU]. As a former SA Congress representative for Mountainview [College], I saw firsthand the needs of communities. As a Finance Committee member and the vice president of finance for the PwC Scholars Program, I have seen the direct needs of student organizations. Lastly, as a current assistant to the VPF, I have seen the necessary changes and operations of the office. I am the candidate who has the time, mindset and kindness needed to generate real change. Help me help you and together we can bring experienced leadership to the VPF office!”
