The Binghamton University women’s lacrosse team lost to the University of New Hampshire Saturday, continuing its six-year America East Conference losing streak. The Bearcats got crushed by the Wildcats, 17-7, and fell to 0-4 in conference play.

The Wildcats came out firing in the first half, scoring three unanswered goals before sophomore Lis Zuern broke the spell by casting one of her own in the back of the net, making the score 3-1. New Hampshire outscored Binghamton 6-3 in the final minutes of the half to set the score, 9-4. New Hampshire outshot Binghamton 16-13.

The second half started with the Wildcats netting four straight goals before Bearcats junior Beth Moore answered back with one of her own to set the score at 13-5. It was her second goal in the game, and she would later go on to score the remaining two Bearcat goals. The Wildcats outscored Binghamton 4-2, finishing the game 17-7.

“As a staff we prepare them for every game but when things go bad we forget the game plan,” said BU head coach Tony Zostant.

Zuern had a total of two goals for the game while freshmen Kristin Stone and Allie Sabitus had a goal apiece. Both Moore and Zuern have been solid this season, scoring 31 and 19 goals for the season, respectfully.

“After the season is over we are going back to the drawing board and starting over.” Zostant said.

The Bearcats are set to host the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-11, 1-4 AE) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
