Many college students struggle to stay awake, but there are also those that struggle to fall asleep. Countless people lie awake at night wanting to desperately indulge in those four hours of sleep from 5 a.m. to when they drag themselves out of bed at 9 a.m.. One of those precious hours is spent tossing and turning, trying to find the cool side of the pillow, throwing blankets on and off, maybe even sleeping with their legs up against the wall — anything that will induce a pleasant night’s sleep.
What we seem to be reaching for night after night are sleeping pills. Nyquil, Advil PM and Sleep-aid, are among the myriad of medications that students are dependent on for a restful night’s sleep. But most are unaware of the overarching side effects that come with these drugs.

Many of us have experienced the pain of a heartbreak. It’s a feeling so painful that you just want to curl up in your bed, fall asleep and never wake up. It feels as if your entire world has come crashing down and your life is over. And of course, it’s completely normal to feel this way at first. So go ahead — take a day off from work, binge-eat on Ben & Jerry’s and call up all of your friends until your phone battery drains out.
However, a constant repeat of these types of days might send you into an even deeper funk — and may also add a few pounds to your waistline. Bottom line is: the end of your relationship should never be the end of you.

A celebrity releasing a book is a trendy thing to do these days. From Lauren Conrad’s series of fiction novels to the book the Kardashian sisters recently released, it’s hard to tell which stars are genuinely writing or if they’ve hired a ghostwriter.
Mindy Kaling’s memoir/essay collection “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)” has to be one of the few celebrity written books that was not only written by the person herself, but actually contains a refreshing perspective on all things regarding growing up, Hollywood, friendships and relationships.

Outside of summer, December is the biggest month for the movies. Not only do studios campaign for Oscar attention for their prestige pictures, but they also release a slew of commercial movies around Christmas-time, consistently one of the highest-grossing periods of the year for the movie industry. Here are five major movies coming out this December, three of which aimed at the weekend before Christmas, that will probably be better than “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.”

Not having officially toured the United States since their absurdly long 1991-93’ “Use Your Illusion” tour, Guns N’ Roses (or Axl Rose and company) came roaring out of the gates Thursday night at the IZOD Center. Appearing on stage at a “reasonable” time of eleven o’clock (reasonable by Guns N’ Roses’ standards anyway), Guns N’ Roses put on a spectacular show that did justice to both their older hits and their new songs from their recent album “Chinese Democracy.”

Every time I visit my grandma at her Upper West Side apartment, a stack of fashion magazines awaits me. I am my grandma’s granddaughter after all. My grandma was a hat model in the 1940s and transitioned to a fashion buyer in the 1950s and 1960s, so fashion has been an integral part of our relationship. She taught me timeless style and about the most prominent style icons of all time, and I continue to teach her how to stay young although she hardly needs it. She’s the hippest grandma I know.
